Price & availability
Merchant Center sale price mismatch
Sale pricing introduces timing and display states that ordinary price checks can miss. The submitted regular price, sale price, effective dates, visible page, structured data, and checkout must describe the same active offer.

Understand the active pricing state
The regular price and sale price serve different purposes. When a sale is active, the customer must be able to purchase the applicable product at the submitted promotional price. Before and after the effective period, the regular price should remain accurate.
A crossed-out reference price on the site is not enough if the submitted sale price applies to another variant or has expired.
Where timing breaks
Storefront promotion engines, source exports, and Merchant processing do not always change at the same moment.
- Sale effective dates use the wrong timezone.
- The storefront sale ends before the source refresh.
- A scheduled feed updates less often than promotion rules.
- Structured data still exposes the regular or previous sale price.
- The landing page preselects a non-sale variant.
- A coupon-only price is submitted as broadly available.
A reliable diagnostic workflow
Record the current time, timezone, submitted price, submitted sale price, and sale effective dates. Open the exact offer URL in a clean session, select the correct variant, and inspect visible price, structured data, cart, and checkout. Then compare the processed Merchant value and source update time.
Synchronize rather than patch
Correct promotion timing in the system of record and make source refresh frequent enough for short sales. Align structured data and visible price with the purchasable state. Do not extend an expired promotion in the feed simply to clear a diagnostic if customers cannot buy at that price.
CommerceVigil evidence limits
CommerceVigil can surface Google's issue and, where readable, compare submitted and page evidence. It cannot evaluate every coupon, loyalty rule, logged-in price, or regional session, and it never invents an explanation when the evidence is ambiguous.
Frequently asked questions
Can timezone differences cause a mismatch?
Yes. Verify sale effective dates, storefront promotion timing, and source refresh timing in a consistent timezone.
Can a coupon price be submitted as sale_price?
Only represent pricing according to Google's current requirements and the price broadly available for the offer.
Should I remove the regular price during a sale?
No. Follow Google's price and sale-price specification for both values.
