Price & availability
Merchant Center price mismatch at checkout
Google expects a customer to see a consistent price for the same offer from product data through the landing page and checkout. Diagnose every layer before assuming checkout is the only cause.

Follow the exact offer through the purchase path
Start with the submitted price and currency for the affected offer. Open its exact URL, confirm the selected variant and region, inspect the visible price and supported structured data, then add that same variant to checkout. Record where the first disagreement appears.
Taxes, mandatory fees, quantity rules, discounts, membership pricing, and location-based behavior can complicate the comparison. Use Google's current market-specific guidance rather than making a general legal assumption.
Common mismatch patterns
Checkout may reveal a different base product, expired promotion, currency, or variant than the one submitted. But the inconsistency can begin earlier.
- The landing page defaults to a higher-priced variant.
- Structured data contains an old price while the visible page is current.
- A sale ends before the feed refreshes.
- Geo or currency selection changes after a redirect.
- A mandatory charge is introduced only at checkout.
- Cached catalog, page, and checkout layers refresh at different times.
Diagnose without a personalized session
Test in a clean browser state and use the same country and currency Google evaluated. Avoid logged-in discounts or saved-location behavior. Confirm the product remains purchasable at the advertised price rather than showing a range that does not apply to the selected variant.
Correct the authoritative source
If the feed is stale, repair the integration or source refresh. If the page or checkout is wrong, correct storefront pricing and cache behavior. Keep structured data aligned with the visible purchasable offer. After updating, confirm Merchant Center processed the correct price and wait for Google to reevaluate the page.
What CommerceVigil can verify
For supported products, CommerceVigil can show Google's mismatch diagnostic and compare readable Merchant and landing-page evidence. It does not complete every checkout, interpret personalized prices, change prices, or guarantee Google's recrawl outcome. An inaccessible or ambiguous page is reported as inconclusive.
Frequently asked questions
Is checkout always the cause of a price mismatch?
No. The discrepancy can be in submitted data, the landing page, structured data, variant selection, currency, or checkout.
Can logged-in discounts affect testing?
Yes. Test the general customer experience for the same country, currency, and offer.
Does fixing the price restore traffic immediately?
No. Google must process and reevaluate the product, and eligibility does not guarantee delivery.
