Performance Max feed issues: Merchant Center checks

Retail Performance Max uses Merchant Center product data. Disapproved or inaccurate offers can reduce which products are eligible to participate, but feed correction alone does not guarantee campaign performance.

Separate product eligibility from campaign delivery

First confirm the intended Merchant account and data source are linked to the campaign context. Then inspect product status by destination, country, and marketing method. A product can be approved in Merchant Center yet receive little campaign delivery for reasons outside the feed.

Conversely, a disapproved product cannot participate in the affected destination even if the campaign itself is active.

Feed issues worth reviewing

Start with errors that affect eligibility, then improve accurate product completeness without inventing attributes.

  • Product and account disapprovals
  • Stale price or availability
  • Inaccessible or inconsistent landing pages
  • Missing or invalid identifiers
  • Low-quality or noncompliant images
  • Titles and descriptions that do not accurately describe the offer
  • Unexpected listing-group exclusions or product ID changes

Trace products through listing groups

Check whether affected offers are included in the campaign's listing groups or asset-group product filters. Preserve stable IDs and custom-label semantics so catalog changes do not unintentionally move products between groups.

Correct Merchant data before judging impact

Fix the authoritative catalog, source, or website and verify Google processed the update. Then confirm eligibility in the relevant destination. Campaign learning and delivery are separate processes, so avoid promising an immediate performance lift.

CommerceVigil's role

CommerceVigil monitors Merchant diagnostics, issue lifecycle, and safely matched recent Merchant performance. It does not read or optimize Google Ads campaigns, edit listing groups, or claim that fixing a feed issue will improve return on ad spend.

Frequently asked questions

Can a feed issue stop a product from serving in Performance Max?

A disapproval can make the product ineligible for the affected destination; review its exact status and campaign inclusion.

Will fixing the feed improve ROAS?

No outcome is guaranteed. Feed accuracy restores or improves eligibility evidence, while campaign performance has additional factors.

Does CommerceVigil connect to Google Ads?

No. It monitors Merchant Center data, not Google Ads campaigns.
