Merchant Center shipping errors: configuration checklist
Shipping errors are context-specific. Diagnose the affected country, product, service, currency, and destination before changing account-wide settings or product-level overrides.

Start with the affected destination
Read the exact Google issue and identify which products and countries it covers. Confirm that a shipping service exists for the destination and that its products, regions, delivery options, and currency apply to the offer.
A configuration can be correct for one market and incomplete for another. Avoid generalizing from a successful domestic checkout.
Account settings and product data can conflict
Shipping can be configured at account level and, in supported situations, overridden in product data. A product-level value or shipping label can route an item away from the intended service.
- No service covers the target country or region.
- A shipping label does not match any applicable service.
- Product-level shipping overrides account settings unexpectedly.
- Rate currency differs from the offer currency.
- Checkout charges more than the submitted or configured amount.
- Carrier or weight-based rules lack required product information.
Test one exact product and address
Choose an affected offer and a representative delivery address in the reported market. Compare Merchant settings, any product-level attributes, and the customer-visible checkout result. Keep product price and shipping price separate, and record taxes or mandatory fees according to Google's applicable guidance.
Correct the narrowest source of truth
If an account service is wrong, update that service. If only a product class differs, use accurate labels or supported overrides rather than duplicating broad services. Ensure the storefront can actually honor the configuration. Then verify Google reprocesses the affected products.
Boundaries and legal context
CommerceVigil surfaces Google's shipping diagnostics and affected products. It does not simulate every checkout address, certify delivery promises, or provide country-specific legal advice. Google documentation and your actual fulfillment terms remain authoritative.
Frequently asked questions
Can shipping work in one country and fail in another?
Yes. Services, regions, rates, and product eligibility can differ by country.
Should shipping be included in product price?
Keep product and shipping data consistent with Google's applicable configuration requirements rather than masking a shipping error.
Does CommerceVigil test every checkout location?
No. It reports Merchant diagnostics and limited supported evidence, not a complete fulfillment simulation.
